Disabling Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Auto Reboot in Windows XP

If you have been running Windows XP for a while you might have experienced that windows reboots without you asking it to. This is often caused by a Blue Screen of Death error. To find out what the error is you will need to access the error log and check the errors stored in the list because Windows reboots too fast for you to read and make a note of what happened.

If this happens frequently there is a good chance your registry has become corrupted due to bad registry entries, the best solution for this problem would be to scan your computer with a registry cleaner and repair any errors discovered during the scan.

But here’s a quick tip you can use to disable auto reboot so you can see what happened and troubleshoot the error if you want to attempt to fix the problem manually.

  • Go to Start – Control Panel – System
  • Go to the Advanced tab
  • Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings…
  • Under System Failure un-check “Automatically restart”

If you are experiencing problems with BSOD it could be something more severe and could lead to worse problems unless they are dealt with.

Troubleshooting these problems can be a long and risky process as these problems are usually located in the windows registry, so just to be on the safe side you could try a registry cleaner to scan your computer for errors and fix them should any be discovered.

My top recommendation would have to be Reg Genie, you can download a free trial version you can use to scan your computer for potential threats, so give it a try, your computer will benefit from it. All computers eventually suffer from registry errors, but by running a registry cleaner regularly you can easily avoid these errors and increase computer speed.

Scan your registry now for errors and improve computer performance.
