How to Manually Remove Bearshare

Step 1

Click Ctrl+Alt+Del together to bring up the task manager, click on the processes tab.

Look for the following processes

  • bsinstallit.exe
  • bearsh~1.exe
  • bearshare.exe
  • bsproinstall.exe

Highlight each one, then click on End Process to terminate the processes one by one.

Step 2

Click Start – Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs and look for Bearshare in the list of programs.

Click remove, then confirm and the program will be uninstalled from your computer.

Normally this would be the end of the line for most programs, but Bearshare is rather stubborn so we’ll need to do some more steps to ensure it is completely removed from your computer.

If you cannot find Bearshare in the list of installed programs, you will need to unregister its DLL’s manually.

Unregister the following DLL’s in Program Files\Bearshare\

  • bearshare.dll
  • bsidle.dll

Restart your computer

Step 3

Now it’s time to delete all the registry keys that was not removed during uninstall, there are quite a few of them and if you don’t want to look for them or if you are not all that good with computers I would recommend you download Reg Genie and remove them automatically.

If you do chose to proceed, be sure to back up the registry in case you make a mistake.

Click Start – run… – type “regedit” in the box and hit enter
